**A chair is a very tangible test of an AI's advice.** Does it stand, hold a person and feel comfortable?

In an October 14 essay, artist and writer **James Bridle** revisits earlier experiments with ChatGPT and Mistral. They supplied the scrap-wood measurements and did the carpentry. One design's thin plywood seat worked; another needed substantial extra bracing.

Bridle describes a designer who has:
> read a lot about chairs but never actually sat in one.

This is a personal making account, not a controlled comparison of today's models. The photograph shows Bridle's **AI Chair 1.0**.
