A name badge that can also run Pokémon Crystal is a good conversation starter. Steve Francia used Gemini to help build a Game Boy and Game Boy Color emulator for the RP2350-based GitHub Universe badge.

His October 27 write-up explains the real obstacles: fitting the emulated processor into MicroPython’s constraints, switching memory banks efficiently and loading large cartridges without freezing the badge. Screenshots show several games, and the code is public.

It is an unusually tangible example of AI-assisted programming meeting hardware limits. The repository does not distribute copyrighted game ROMs.
