Surreal creatures, ritual imagery and choreography share the screen in Accelerando, Grimes' four-and-a-half-minute video directed by Cho Giseok, released October 9.

Her team confirms that some effects used AI, alongside live performers, practical elements and conventional VFX. The song and vocals were recorded without AI. The closing behind-the-scenes footage makes the production itself part of the piece.

A useful example of AI being one ingredient in a larger creative process.
